I don’t have any statistics but I think it’s safe to assume the number one reason for this is to attempt to lose weight. Should a person lose weight before subjecting themselves to online dating?
Just like you have to find someone who meets your other standards.
But i don't really understand why you would want to limit your dating pool to just people who are losing weight.
Believe it or not, there are some guys who are fit and don't see weight as a deal breaker.
If you have the same interests as them, they might be interested in you.
You initially stated that you're looking for a guy with some extra weight, however you stated "most of the guys at my gym are over weight and don't go very often..thank you! It seems as though you just want some recognition for your hard work, and are not actually into meeting someone.
Some people think about dating online but put it off because they want to improve something about themselves before they start.
For those people out there who are hyper-sensitive to rejection, and especially those who are this way because of their weight, you may want to lose the weight before dating.
One of the worst feelings with internet dating is not being contacted by anyone for an extended period of time.
Or are they the type of guys who go to the gym and spectate rather than work out?
I don't think there is any one place for something like that.
As a side note, I did take my own advice when dating online. As I improved these areas, my online dating success improved as well.
